Freelite Rooflight's has developed a range of 'Glasslite' rooflights as an extension to the existing MK5 rooflight series. Glasslites have been designed for flat roof locations but can be comfortably used on low pitch roofs up to and including a 20 degree pitch. The Glasslite system consists of extruded aluminium glazing frames, 'hit & miss' ventilators, storm-rated slot ventilators and insulated extruded splayed aluminium upstands to suit almost all dimensional circumstances and customer requirements. Extruded aluminium kerb adaptors are also available to allow for the fitting of the units to builders upstands.

The aluminium upstand has been designed to accommodate all modern roof membranes and finishes. The Glasslite product has been used extensively on new build projects and is especially accomodating on refurbishment contracts.

The Glasslite units should be fitted to a minimum fall of 10 degrees on flat roof installations to allow for proper drainage.

The aluminium components can be finished with a polyester powder coat finish to BS 6496.

Glasslite units can be fitted with a number of glazing options. Double or triple skinned units are available and these can comprise of different combinations of glass types to suit individual specifications and specific situations. The glass units are structurally bonded to the aluminium framing to provide a flush glazed finish. Glazing units come in a number of different combinations which include toughened outer panes and laminated glass inner panes. It should be noted that Glasslite units are not suitable as 'walk-on' units.

The glasslite system is also suitable for roof access and smoke/natural ventilation purposes. The units can be fitted with electric actuators and controls to individual specifications to allow for fully automatic and manual control.
